Zadie Smith will be publishing two new books, including her first historical novel, from 2019.
The prize-winning author first received acclaimed in 1999 at the age of 24, with the publication of her first novel, White Teeth, and has since published four more. Her most recent, Swing Time, came out last year.
The Bookseller reports that Smith will be staying with her publisher, Penguin imprint Hamish Hamilton, for both new books.
The first, which is currently untitled, will be a collection of her best short fiction from nearly two decades. Smith has published several short stories since 1999, including The Embassy of Cambodia, which was brought out as a standalone novella in 2013.
