Edition Addition

In its first week on sale, Daniel Silva’s 18th Gabriel Allon thriller, The Other Woman, sold more than 41K print copies in its conventional edition—enough to debut as the #1 book in the country. The book is also available, signed and unsigned, in a BN exclusive edition, featuring an interview with the author, bringing total print units sold to almost 56K.

BookScan considers special editions whose sales are reported under different ISBNs ineligible to chart on its bestseller lists, but even so, those editions can add significantly to a title’s purse. Here are more examples from this week’s hardcover nonfiction list.

All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin: The BN exclusive edition includes a Nashville travel guide high-lighting locations featured in the book. Print unit sales since June 26 release: 63K conventional, 17K exclusive

Clock Dance by Anne Tyler: The BN exclusive edition includes a reading guide and an essay by Tyler about the book’s origins. Print unit sales since July 10 release: 18K conventional, 14K exclusive

The Death of Mrs. Westaway by Ruth Ware: The BN exclusive edition includes an essay by Ware about how literary Cornwall has always been an inspiration. Print unit sales since May 29 release: 50K conventional, 25K exclusive
